Xanatos :godot:<p>I started to implement some turrets for my current game idea yesterday. I did complete my experimental phase to check out the navigation mesh and tile map.</p><p>Now I start to get one part of the game loop into a working state. colourlesspony<p>Sky Islands Dev Log 2: Didn't get as much done as I hoped in a week. I did model a character, rig, and animate them. I also made a 3rd person character controller and got them to spawn off ship on and back on. I'm hoping this week I can block out some platforming some levels, time trail races, and enemy characters for melee fighting. Craig P<p>Anyone have any good tutorials on how to create custom tool interfaces for <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Godot" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Godot</span></a>? You can't really do VN scenes without a method of arranging lots of lines of text plus events.</p><p>I can do the texts plus events, but the 'arranging' part needs work.</p>

Rie<p>Baking lightmaps in <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/Godot" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Godot</span></a> is a great option for good looking lighting at very low performance cost - basically it's raytracing that comes for free (for static lights and geometry at least).</p><p>But it also takes effort to get right and there are a bunch of gotchas nobody tells you about. I'll list some of the things I learned the hard way in this thread. 🧵</p>
