I got an email from “Tomb of the Eagles”, and my first thought was “Wow, that's the most metal spammer name EVER”, but then I remembered that I'd backed a crowdfunding project to restore a Neolithic site in Orkney.
This is the project, by the way, for anyone who's interested:

Part of the Ring of Brodgar stone circle, superbly located between the Loch of Stenness and the Loch of Harray on Orkney's West Mainland. Ooookay, so it's been a few months. Some things have happened.
I was accepted into the PhD program at UHI. My program is supposed to start Feb. 3. I'm trying to find a place to live, which is next to impossible.
So I'm throwing this out into the ether because why not? If anyone has ANY leads on a 2+ bedroom flat or house to let in #Orkney, please let me know! I am desperate! We are financially stable and I'm a mature student. We're not smokers.

A national day of action was called in the UK in support of Palestine. Protests took place in over 40 towns and cities, from #Oxford to #Orkney - from #Liverpool to #Luton.
30k protested in #TrafalgarSquare. They brought with them flowers & kids' toys. When they left the Square at the end of the rally they went to lay these at #10Downing St. to commemorate the 1000s of #Palestinians murdered by Israel. Before leaving they held a spontaneous minute of silence.

Stromness harbour around and after sunrise this morning. Why did I wake up before 6am?

This is part of the Ring of Brodgar, on the mainland of Orkney. It's beautifully sited on a narrow strip of land between two lochs. It started drizzling, and everyone else left so I had it to myself (except a couple of Wagtails who perched on two of the stones).
I'm on the beautiful mainland of Orkney. This was where I sat this morning looking toward Hoy and Graemsay, watching birds and feeling the blustery wind.
Got lucky to see a Peregrine Falcon hunting, a Curlew, Great Skua, and Gannets diving for fish. No bird pics, was busy enjoying the moment.
Just beautiful!
The wind is getting up now, must be time for a cup of tea...
Heute erst das Thema "Leute die sich Bruchbuden auf dem Land gekauft haben und dann implodierte das Privatleben" gehabt.
Wir waren uns jedenfalls einig dass Leute sowas nicht durchdenken und keine Ahnung haben was "keine Infrastruktur" praktisch wirklich bedeutet.
Ein Ehepartner länger im Krankenhaus? Jemand kann nicht (mehr) Autofahren? Kinder wollen zum Sportverein?
